Toronto FanExpo 2011

Nerds, Geeks, Film Buffs, and Trekkies around Canada united this weekend at FanExpo in Toronto.
This was a first time experience for me, but it definitely did not disappoint. Tons of attendees were dressed as their favourite Horror, Sci-Fi, Anime, or comic book characters-posing for pictures, collecting autographs and spending up a storm.

PROS
- Visual overload of things to do and people to see

- Minimal wait. However, I showed up at about 2pm on Saturday; I heard the wait in the morning can be quite the adventure though, so if you aren’t a die-hard and can wait a few hours I suggest you do

- The opportunity to meet celebs and collect autographs. Tom Felton (Harry Potter series, Rise of the Apes), William Shatner (Star Trek), and Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, Scream 5) are just to name a few
- Comic books, video games, graphic artists, memorabilia and t-shirts everywhere!

CONS
- Lack of food variety, but I guess these people just eat pizza and energy drinks all day anyway right?
- Most celebs charge for photos and autographs. I can understand paying for a photo if you don’t have something to sign….most of the celebs I observed had a charge- but they were all different.
- I didn’t see the advertised “speed dating”… but I didn’t ask around either. I was just curious if a red suit would even talk to an ewok.
Overall, this was everything I expected.
Love Always,
Lindsay <3
PS. The best part of the day was meeting R2D2.

Soo I am an admitted (and not recovering) cinephile.
All week I have been busy and sick, so I took advantage of today to relax a bit. When I say a bit yes I did watch 5 movies, (not all back-to-back). In between these choice films I went swimming, ran errands and treated my dog to a nice car ride. I have noticed though that as the day ends and the night begins my choice goes in a different direction.
I started off with a classic: Haunted Honeymoon, starring Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner. <—- a must watch.
Then went to Secondhand Lions. …
Then I ran some errands, watched The Proposal with the ever so beautiful Ryan Reynolds and Sandra B. ** I was productive and painted my nails at this time **
Went swimming… watched a movie that is a complete guilty pleasure. I do acknowledge and realize the acting and plot is drab and predictable… I am not a 14 year old crazy… but yes Twilight. I like to think that my vast imagination makes up for everything it is lacking, and produces something in my mind which is much more than the average person takes in. Naturally I watched back-to-back episodes of True Blood after this, while I had a turkey sub from Subway.
What next I wonder??
